Caroline Foster

Caroline is a New Zealand born and raised freelance adventure/travel photographer and content creator. Her passion for adventure started almost as soon as she could walk, tagging along on many outdoor excursions with her adventure racer/multi-sports athlete father during her childhood and teenage years. At age 17 she planned and took her first solo international trip to Samoa and from there her travel addiction and sense of adventure only escalated.

In March 2009, Caroline moved to Los Angeles and spent the next 10 years traveling, living and working in several different US states. She completed her Masters degree in Clinical Nutrition in May 2016 and shortly after moved to Montana where she began to seriously pursue photography while working as a Registered Dietitian and Wellness Coach. In February 2019, Caroline left her clinical job to focus all her energy on photography. Shortly after taking the leap to fulltime photography, Caroline’s journey brought her further North to the Canadian Rocky mountains where she now works fulltime as a freelance photographer.

Usually by this time of year I’ve planned out most of my summer and fall and secured a handful of permits. But this year is different, I have yet to plan anything and it kinda feels nice. That may still change if permits happen to fall into my hands but I have a feeling this summer is going to be full of a lot more spontaneous adventures 🥾
We skied halfway here a few days ago and it was definitely a whole different experience than the last time I hiked the same trail in the midst of fall. I always wonder what places look like in the middle of winter ❄️ Thanks for your help with this one @clumsysloth
The days are getting longer and lighter which has me excited for summer adventures 🏕
Winter sure is dreamy around here ❄️ It may be cold, dark and dreary sometimes and it always seems to take a toll on my energy levels and motivation, not to mention causing havoc around my sleep schedule as my natural urge to hibernate kicks in. But every time I get outside I realize just how magical this time of year is and begin to love it just a bit more to the point where by March I’m hoping it will stick around just a bit longer. Can anyone else relate to this love/hate kind of relationship with the colder, darker months?
If you ever watch my stories then you know it’s no secret that I love to cook! Over the past year I’ve been forced to slow down and spend more time at home and as a result I’ve started cooking more than ever! With this however, I’ve become a bit bored with my own cooking, my meals have started to feel repetitive and I’ve been craving something new. Sometimes I look back at photos and can barely believe they’re real. This would be one of those times. We woke up to a fresh dusting of snow, vibrant blue skies and the most perfect stillness. What you can’t see here but maybe you can imagine is the icy cold chill in the air 🍂
From a solo night in the backcountry early last summer. I wasn’t sure if I’d even enjoy it much going into it but spurred on by others that had done it often I thought why not try. It turns out I loved it, there was just something so invigorating and freeing about it. Will I do it again this summer, I’m not entirely sure but never say never 🏕
